Hannari Pretorius

Our Owner

I have a BA Communication and Psychology Degree (Honours) from North West University (Potchefstoom) and a Higher Diploma in Education (UNISA). I have 16 years teaching experience in total. I started Smiley Kids Bedfordview in 2001 as I felt that there was more for me to do than just standing in a classroom. I realised that I can be part of the solution in a country where education is a fundamental building block of change.

I am a member of the Smiley Kids Early Childhood Development executive committee with the portfolio of Research, Development and OHS.

Why Smiley Kids?

The Smiley Kids Early Childhood Development Association is a dynamic group that makes a huge difference in pre-school education. The standards are high. The curriculum is constantly researched and adapted to incorporate every aspect of each child’s development.

My vision is to create a loving, warm and secure environment to facilitate learning and fun. I am passionate about teaching and being part of a group gives me a platform to truly make a difference.

Charlene Nel

Our Principal

Charlene has been part of the Smiley family since 2002. She is a qualified nursery school teacher and taught for 8 years (ages 3 – 6 years) before taking over the office and administration of the entire school. In 2010 Charlene became principal.

She manages the day to day running of the school including admin, academic standards and all parent liaisons. Her enthusiastic, hands-on approach makes the school a well-organised, safe, homely and friendly place for both our kids and parents
